The Studio for Dance has a wonderful preschool and kindergarten program where fun, creative movement, learning right and left, skipping and the basics of dance are taught. These classes introduce young dancers to movement and musicality in a happy and supportive environment. Beginning at age 3, the dancers will learn the fundamentals of dance, while also making new friends!
The preschool class (ages 3 & 4) is a combination of ballet and tap. The student is introduced to ballet and basic tap steps are introduced for rhythm. This helps create a relationship between the body, the feet and the mind. The class meets once per week for one hour.
The kindergarten/first-grade class and the second/third grade classes are a combination of ballet, tap, and jazz. We continue to develop students in the areas of ballet and tap during these classes. In addition, we introduce the dancers to jazz with basic coordination movement using upbeat and popular music. The kindergarten/first grade class meets once per week for 1.5 hours and the second/third grade class meets once per week for two hours.
